MONTABELLA HIGH SCHOOL: 6
The CC-C Varsity Football team went on the road to Montabella High School and defeated the host Mustangs by a score of 34-6. The Eagles jumped out to a quick lead, as Drew Stout took the handoff on the Eagles first play from scrimmage and ran 71 yards for a touchdown, putting CC-C on top 6-0, followed by a 2-pt conversion run by Noah Lopez.
CC-C would add to their lead on 8 and 67 yard touchdown runs from Stout, putting the Eagles on top 21-0 in the second quarter. Montabella would answer on a 21-yard TD pass to cut the lead to 21-6, but Carson City immediately responded with a 58-yard touchdown run from Drew Stout, giving the Eagles a 27-6 lead at the half.
Stout would add to the lead to start the 3rd quarter with a 37-yard touchdown run, which placed the score, where it would stay, at 34-6.
Stout accounted for 269 rushing yards on 12 carries, scoring 5 touchdowns. Noah Lopez carried the ball 13 times for 59 yards, and Bretten Stanley had 9 carries for 40 yards.
Leading the way defensively were Daniel Smith (16 tackles), Caleb Collins (13 tackles), and Aiden Adkins (11 tackles).
The Eagles now move to 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in the MSAC. They are back in action on Friday, September 15th, when they host the Coleman Comets as part of the 2017 CC-C Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
