The Carson City-Crystal Eagle's football team opened up the 2020 season with a thrilling 27-26 win over the Braves of Tawas in overtime.
CC-C jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter after touchdown runs by Kyler Stone and Zane Forist. The Eagles would add onto their lead in the third quarter with another touchdown run from Forist, pushing the lead to 20-0.
The Braves would answer with 20 consecutive points of their own via three touchdown runs by Jace Lear.
The game would head into overtime with Tawas scoring on the first play of OT. They would attempt to go for a 2-pt conversion, but were stopped just shy of the goal line. The Eagles then took their turn of the overtime period and facing 3rd and goal from the 22 yard line, scored via a touchdown pass from Forist to Carter McAlvey. Oscar Moreno would come onto the field and send the Eagles home with the win via his XP kick attempt sailing high and straight through the uprights.
